Research teams and topics

The Department of Economics and Management at the University of Pavia, one of the top-ranked departments in Italy, was established in 2012 through the merger of the former Department of Economics and Quantitative Methods and the Department of Business Research. Its mission is to promote, through high-quality teaching and research, the study of economics, business, law, and sociology.

Since its foundation, the Department has developed strong scientific collaborations with other Italian and international universities, research institutes, and leading scholars. Notably, the University of Pavia–Boston Exchange Program has enabled faculty exchanges with prestigious institutions such as MIT, Harvard University, Harvard Business School, Northeastern University, and Boston University.

Recognized as a Department of Excellence for the period 2023–2027 by the Italian Ministry of University and Research, the Department is acknowledged as one of the leading departments among Italian state universities for the outstanding quality and impact of its research.
