The RIsks of Climate Change: the Economic and Political COnsequences of Natural Disasters (TRICC-EPCOND)
Abstract
This project analyzes the economic and political implications of natural disasters and climate change. It develops three lines of research that focus on the electoral impact of earthquakes in Italy, the effect of wildfires on the Mediterranean economy, and how politicians respond to the environmental stances of their electoral base. We aim to contribute to the academic literature and provide valuable insights for policymakers regarding the impact of natural disasters on economic decision-making and political choices among agents, with a particular focus on the Italian and European economies.
