Award (Encomio)
At the end of the course of studies, a commendation may be awarded. This commendation must have the character of exceptionality, serving as formal recognition for particularly outstanding academic careers, assessed based on the timeliness of degree attainment, the final grade average, and the high scientific value of the thesis work.
The award of the commendation is conditional on meeting the following minimum requirements:
- Curricular requirement: The graduation committee must verify that the candidate has a starting score (including the count of honors/“lodi”) of 112/110.
- Regularity of the program: The student must obtain the degree within the third calendar year (Bachelor’s) or the second calendar year (Master’s) from the time of the first enrollment at the university in a first-level (or second-level) degree program.
- Assessment of the final thesis: The supervisor must propose a thesis evaluation of 5 points (Bachelor’s) or 7 points or more (Master’s), and in the latter case must request the appointment of a second co-supervisor (second “correlatore”).
After verifying the existence of the conditions mentioned above, the supervisor is required to submit the request for the commendation award to gestione-lauree.dem@unipv.it, at least one week before the graduation session. Within the same deadline, the supervisor must also send to the same email address and to the members of the graduation committee a report setting out the reasons supporting the proposal.
It is specified that, if granted, the commendation may be included in career records/certifications upon the interested party’s request.
Therefore, students are reminded that, when requesting a degree certificate, they must specify that they have been awarded the commendation; otherwise, the system will not include it in the document.
